ABOUT MAEVA

Maeva is a London-based artist from France with a soulful and powerful voice.
French and British with Iranian heritage she grew up listening to Amy Winehouse, Jennifer Lopez, Adele and Beyoncé. More recently, she takes inspiration from artists such as Jorja Smith, Mahalia, Snoh Aalegra and Jazmine Sullivan. She’s driven by the sharing of an authentic connection with her listeners.

With her music, Maeva always writes from a personal experience and likes to be a part of the whole creative process. She mixes genres and influences creating a unique style which she refers as Alternative R&B with a touch of Lo-fi and Pop.

Maeva moved to London in 2018 and released her debut EP in march 2020 called WARRIOR in collaboration with two swiss producers : LEX & Moh Ciss, Maeva started to Gig around London while releasing singles and her first video for "Invitation" : a song about rape and sexual abuse.

In September 2021 she released her second Ep called VOICES in collaboration with two other Swiss producers : Theo A Ku and Luvanga. In this new project, she talks about a few different subjects such as heartbreak, grief, mental health... The Ep was released with a video for the single Voices.

Her latest Ep called DISTANCE, which she is releasing on 1st September 2023, is the first project she produced in her "Home Studio". After writing, producing  and recording all the demos she then worked with Dan Giles who co-produced the project, alongside Matt Isaac on guitar and Corey Wickens on Strings arrangements. The Ep was mixed by Luke Farnell and mastered by James Grant.
Distance opens with "Show me the way", a song she wrote about falling in love with someone who still is quite distant and unsure about commitment and closes with "I'm sorry", an apology for running away from a relationship even though it seemed certain and solid.
The title song "Distance" explores the struggles of being in a long distance relationship. All the songs in this new Ep somehow revolve around this idea of distance, in a relationship, in a world which you feel disconnected from, and even the song "Never Givin' up" which she wrote during the last lockdown of the pandemic when struggling as a performer, ripped from being on stage and sharing her music with others. Expect a mix of Alternative R&B and Pop with a strong Lo-fi ambiance. Connect your AirPods and get transported into a musical experience which feels like an intimate conversation with the artist over a cup of coffee.
